Scouting Parents
It's that time again where we need to start recruiting for committee positions.
The first and currently the most important is Pack Secretary, which has been dutifully fulfilled by Annette Ross. Annette will be leaving after February with the advancement of her son to Boy Scouts. The primary duty of the Pack Secretary is to take the official notes at committee meeting and vote on committee decisions.
Secondly we need two individuals to join as Committee Members starting this fall with the eventual transition to Committee Chairman and Assistant Cub Master. These will both be vacated next spring by Dean Darcy and myself as our boys transition to Boy Scouts. By joining as a Committee Member in the fall, these two volunteers will have the opportunity to participate and learn hands-on during the 2008-09 scouting season.
Thirdly we have created the new position of Activities Coordinator. The primary job for this position will be to announce, organize and track outside events and opputunities for scouts. A few examples would be Scout Day at the Races, Thrasher games, Brave's Scout Day, etc. Wendy Knowles has been doing this for us as a courtesy but she will be leaving us too with the transition of her son to Boy Scouts next month.
I assure you that with the assistance of the other volunteers we have on the committee and working as a team, none of the positions are overwhelming. It is a little extra time and effort, but in the end the enjoyment and education our boys get from the program is well worth it.
Please feel free to give me a call, 770-359-7667, if you have any questions.
Thanks

The Scout shop inside J&R Clothing in Fayetteville has closed and a new nataional BSA Scout shop in Fairburn has opened.
Normally we end our Cub Scout year with the Raingutter Regatta however this year we want to try something different. We'd like to see every Cub Scout return next year so we've come up with a summer schedule to keep the kids involved with activities until we start fresh again in the Fall. Please let the sponser know if you plan to participate in an activity and remember there are activities at Camp Longhorn (Camp Thunder) you can take part in too during the summer as a den or individually.
Please notice several of the activities below still need a sponser to organize and be the contact person for the activity. Please contact Russ Cormack if you can help out with one of these activities.
